Sultan Berlin is a Berlin based Design Studio.

We believe in complex ideas and simple solutions.
We are convinced that strong visual concepts are the foundation for effective communication.
We love challenges and approach every project with curiosity and excitement.

We work in different media, with focus on corporate identity, communication design, campaigns,
editorial design, exhibition design and photography. With our strong creative network in Berlin,
London, New York and Tokyo, we work on international projects and are well versed in global
trends and culture.

Sultan Berlin was founded by Diane Bergmann and Stephen Müller, both are award-winning
designers with extensive work experiences in Europe’s leading design agencies.



Diane Bergmann was born in West Berlin, studied Graphic Design at Central Saint Martins College of Art & Design (London, UK), Chelsea College of Art & Design (London, UK), and at the Fachhochschule Potsdam in Germany.

After living in London for many years she returned to Berlin to work as an Art Director in Berlin for leading design agencies such as MetaDesign AG, TBWA Berlin, Scholz & Friends Berlin, Realgestalt GmbH and many more. At MetaDesign AG, where she worked as a Senior Designer for many years,
she has won numerous awards such as the Red Dot Award (best of the best) or the ddc Wettbewerb (Gute Gestaltung: Gold), just to name a few. Among her clients there, were renowned companies like Neue Nationalgalerie, Osram, Mairdumont and Volkswagen. Other clients she has also worked for in her professional career include Playstation, Adidas, Bundesregierung (German Federal Government), Charité Berlin and many more. Diane developed a special interest in the creation and branding of cultural events, colour research and consulting for brands and corporations. Since 2007 she has been working as a freelance Art Director in Berlin.

Stephen Müller was born in East Berlin, studied Photography and Communications at Santa Monica College (USA), followed by Visual Communication at Fachhochschule Potsdam, Germany and Communication Design at Parsons School of Design, New York.

From 2007 to 2008 he was the head of the Design Department for the Admiralspalast theatre in Berlin. Stephen has a background in Photography and Video/Filmmaking and is an experienced Editorial Designer, a craft he honed by art directing a variety of fashion and cultural magazines. In recent years, he has been working as a freelance Art Director for clients such as Puma AG, Admiralspalast Berlin, Arena Berlin, Applauso East Inc. Tokyo, Berlin Partner GmbH, WM-Studio Mitte, DAAD - German Academic Exchange Service, Streetfootballworld, Süddeutsche Zeitung, St. Pauli Theater Hamburg, Mast-Jägermeister AG, GAIN - German Academic Network, Deutsch Magazine, Piranha Events GmbH, Messe Frankfurt, and Westdeutscher Rundfunk. Stephen also works as a photographer and had been invited to exhibit his work in Berlin, New York and Amsterdam.

The Sultan Berlin collective frequently spends time overseas, building up a strong network with creatives from Europe and Asia.
